Bags are packed

2007-05-09 / 8:14 a.m.

I had to get up at 5:30 this morning! Yuck - I am not a morning person. I threw some clothes on and pulled my hair back. We picked the girls up from their beds and put them straight into their carseats - pajamas and all. They did really well. I thought they would cry and be grouchy, but they just rode quietly as we took Dan to work. We dropped him off and headed back home. I stopped and got Bg1 a doughnut (pink with sprinkles) as a special treat for being such a good girl (she's NOT a morning person at all).

The bags are packed and in the car. Bg2 is down for what I hope to be a long nap since she won't get another one today and Bg1 is laying and resting on the couch, watching a movie. I am coloring my hair right now and then I'll jump in the shower. All I have to do is pack all our bathroom stuff and we'll be ready to go pick up Dan around noon. Then we are off to the airport. I can't wait to get to my dad's.

Yesterday I had Bg1 make a card for her daddy for his birthday. I told her to keep it a secret and we'll give it to him on his birthday as a surprise. The second he walked in the door last night, "Daddy, I made you a secret card!" Super cute! If I didn't tell her to keep it a secret, she probably wouldn't have said anything. Three year olds are not known for their great secret keeping abilities. I can't tell you what I'm giving Dan for his birthday because he often reads this. I'll tell you later.

Bg2's rash is getting better and her black eye has faded quite a bit. Poor thing. The thing about her, is that no matter what happens to her, she is still the happiest little girl I have ever seen. She doesn't fuss or cry and she is almost always smiling. When she doesn't feel well, she'll just lay on me and suck her fingers, but she won't fuss. She has such a sweet spirit. I hope that sweet spirit continues on the plane today. My luck, she'll decide it's time to fuss. At least it is a relatively short flight. She'll be fine.

Bg1 is beside herself with excitement about going on a "BIG plane". She keeps asking when we are going to leave. I think we are going to let her sit by the window, which I know she will Love. Plus, we're bringing the laptop for her to watch a movie, so she'll be fine. Throw in some snacks and we'll have one happy camper.

Time to rinse the color from my hair. Next time I talk to you I'll be in CO.
