Not a fan of the heat 2007-09-04 / 9:28 a.m. I think I am going to die. Not really, but I also think it is okay for me to be dramatic when it's this hot. I H-A-T-E the heat. Yesterday, was a terrible, don't touch me, don't talk to me, I'm going to throw up, I'm going to cry, I want to run away to an iceberg, everyone is stupid - kind of day. We went to my aunt's house for the weekend. And people....it was 112 degrees - I'm totally telling the truth. I wanted to cry. They had the air on, but when you live in a mansion, it takes a long time for it to cool off. And when your uncle refuses to leave it on for very long, you will be sweating to the oldies. Fortunately, they have a swimming pool. We basically lived in the pool all weekend. It was nice and the girls had a blast. Bg1 is becoming quite the swimmer. Here's where it gets ugly. I was worried about our kitty bitty, being locked up in the house all weekend in this heat. So yesterday, I was in a rush to get home to make sure he was okay. We got home and he is fine. Very lathargic and he had thrown up a few places, but I'll take that over a dead kitty any day. The thermostat in our house read 99 degrees! Opening up the house did nothing to help, in fact, the temp. went up to 101 degrees. We were miserable. We have a window unit that cools off the living room, but when I went to turn it on, it worked for about 2 minutes before it quit. Are you kidding me? After several tantrums and crying fits, telling Dan that I can't live in this heat, we took off to find refuge. We walked around several stores - killing time and enjoying their A/C. We ate dinner and reluctantly came home to our hot house. We also have a tiny window a/c that we can put in our bedroom window. So we got that out of the garage and hooked it up. We figured if we had to live holed up in our bedroom for a few days, then that is what we would do. We let it run for a few hours to cool the room down. We set up the girls a place to sleep in our room, and went out to try to cool off in our pool. It was freezing because we had drained it for the weekend and had to refill it. So it had no time to warm up in the sun. It was cold, but felt so good. Our room finally cooled off enough to put the girls to bed. By 9:00 last night, our house was still 97 degrees. It was cooler outside than in our house. We contemplated putting up the tent and sleeping outside, but thought the a/c in our room would still be a little cooler. I can't handle it. I'm a crybaby, I know, but really, I want to throw the biggest tantrum you have ever seen. I was actually mad that Dan got to go to work and his air conditioned office today. Not because I will miss him (which I will), but because he will be cool while we are sweating! After Bg2's morning nap, we might take off for the mall. They tell me today is supposed to be the last really hot day, but I don't think I believe those bastards! I just want to cuss! I had said in another chat that it was going to be, "hotter than my butt", but people it was F***ing hotter than my ASS! In closing, heat makes me grouchy. Have a nice day. K
