Beggers can't be choosers. . . apparently

It has been a while. I have wanted to post several times, but frankly, I haven't had the time. We went on a family vacation last week. So the week leading up to it was filled with getting ready and then we left. I could have posted while we were gone, but I think in the state of mind I was in at the time, it's better that I waited.

So we went to Monterey with Dan's parents. Now, I Adore Dan's parents. Truly, I love them. But can I just tell you that this man I married is Truly the product of his parents. I thought traveling with one Johnson was stressful, but traveling with THREE made me insane! They like to have every minute of every day planned. Now granted, we did lots of fun things, but it was not very relaxing. All in all, I had a good time and the girls had a lot of fun. I just had to keep quiet about certain things and know when to put my foot down on other things. We rented a mini-van so that we could all fit in one car. We drove up to Dan's parents on Sunday and left for Monterey on Monday. We went to a children's museum, walked around Cannery Row, did some shopping, went to Pebble Beach, went to the beach to look for tide pools, Monterey Bay Aquarium, etc. It was fun.

We were in close quarters and could only eat in places where we had coupons - SO DAN! I'm not complaining, because afterall, they did treat us to a vacation, it's just....people....one of my favorite things about vacation is the food. I wanted good food!

We got back to their house on Friday and that night Dan and I went to the movies. I was ready to be away from everyone, so it was nice. Saturday, Dan and his dad went fishing and then we headed home that night. So the past couple of days have been spent getting everything put away and back on a schedule. I got terrible sleep while we were gone and it is all catching up with me now. I'm tired.

I don't mean to sound ungrateful or like I had a terrible time, because it was nice of them to take us. And it was fun, just not how I imagine "vacation". Ok, enough of that.

I need to do some shopping. Before we left, I cleaned out my closet. I got rid of all the things I haven't worn in years and that I probably would never wear again, anything that was too big for me, and anything that was not flattering on me. I just need a few basic things - especially now that it is cooling off. I would LOVE a day to do some shopping by myself or with a girlfriend - no husband and no kids.

I love, Love, LOVE that it is getting cooler. I am, however, extremely disappointed that I missed the rain we had here. We just got a little drizzle and a couple sprinkles up where we were.

I think I am going to try to get my Fall decorations down from the attic today. I love fall. It is amazing to me that it is almost Oct. and the month is practically filled up already. We are going to hang out with Matt and Beth this weekend and we are meeting my dad and stepmom in AZ the next weekend, and the very last weekend we are driving up to Petaluma - I can't wait. The weekends should be really fun!
