Great weekend!

2008-01-07 / 9:03 a.m.

Oh people! I had the Best weekend! It was full of rain, time with my family, good sex, shopping and eating out. What more could a girl ask for?

Friday I got 4 louds of laundry done and put away and worked in the girls room - more on that later. That night I made a super yummy dinner for Dan - steak(his favorite), corn souffle and steamed broccoli. We spent some good time with the girls and got them ready for bed. Dan and I snuggled on the couch, listened to the rain and watched one of my favorite movies.

Saturday was a day out. We went to the mall to finish exchanging things from Christmas. We walked around and enjoyed being together. Then we went out to lunch and back home for naps all around. We snacked for dinner, since we had a big lunch, and were lazy the rest of the night.

Sunday was church and then home for lunch. After Bg2 went down for a nap, I decided to take Bg1 out with me for some special alone time. I haven't really been able to spend a lot of time with her on her own, and I thought it might be fun. We went back to the mall because I thought I needed to exchange one more thing (but didn't end up doing it). We got a giant pretzel and found a spot to sit and chat. She was SO cute and loved being alone with me. I think we are going to have to make that a habit! Later that night, when I was putting her to bed, she said, "Thank you for my treat today Mommy. Can we do that again?" It made me want to cry - so sweet and I'm glad we did it!

I've solved the sleeping problem. We took the side off the crib (the side that raises and lowers to put the kid in) and it turned into a pretty little daybed - perfect for a certain 4 year old I know. Thankfully, she loved it and Bg2 could have Bg1's bed (the toddler bed) that she has so desperately been wanting to sleep in. On Friday I moved things around, took out some things and finally came up with a furniture configuration that works. For the past 3 nights, I have had two little girls - both in beds - staying in bed and sleeping through the night! Yah for me!

We are supposed to have some friends stop by today, but I haven't heard from them. They are visiting from out of state, and thought they would be able to stop by on their way out of town. I hope they havent' forgotten about us. It's not a big deal if we don't see them, I just hate not knowing and waiting around. It's not like I have someplace to go, I just get nervous about keeping the house in order until they get here. If I knew they weren't coming, I could relax.

Another thing I am excited about it tomorrow night. I have not scrapbooked in Months and I keep getting farther and farther behind with every picture I take. I was talking to my friend Jenn about this and we decided that the second Tues. of each month would be devoted to scrapbooking. So tomorrow night is the first time. I'm heading over to her house and then next month it will be at my house. Hopefully it will get me inspired enough to do more during the days (when the girls are napping) and if not, then at least I have one day a month to devote to it! We'll see. Plus it will give me time to spend with Jenn.

Okay, better go run the vacuum and wipe down the bathroom - in case our guests decide to show up.
